Received yahoo alert email in spam folder. Is this legitimate email?

Email alert is asking for address, and password. Why would they need my email address if they already sent me the alert. Why did this arrive in spam folder? Do not want to send passwords in case this is not truly from Yahoo. message indicated that there was a virus detected and that it would shut down my emails to prevent spread of virus unless I provided email address and passwords, and password verification.
