Foster care and adoption in New Jersey?
Immediately make the request for contact with your grandchildren. As requesting/prospective adopting parents, you should have the right to visit with the children (when in town for court dates) and phone contact when not in town. If the FP's are not willing for you to have their phone number, you need to request the case worker to establish a day and time they will have the children available for you to phone them. Yes, it is absolutely worth it for you to pursue your grandchildren - the case worker may well be telling you what she wants to believe, however, most judges want a family member for permanency placement. You WILL need to make it to the court hearings. It is hugely important to these children to know that they have family trying to fight for them - that they are wanted.
